Ross Bishop is the founder of BrightLine Bags which specializes in the design and sales of pilot flight bags. This June BrightLine Bags takes another step forward introducing their next generation of bags based on the FLEX System. The FLEX System provides many options that not only appeal to pilots but anyone needing a professional utility or field bag. In support of their design activities, BrightLine Bags uses Shark FX from concept to production design.
Ross is a hands on inventor who masterminded the novel BrightLine product of interchangeable bag options. As a Certified Flight Instructor Ross experienced the frustration of finding a suitable bag for his gear. So Ross took on the challenge of designing a new bag. Starting off with conceptual design ideas from Shark, Ross shared his ideas with others who encouraged him to continue. Those ideas ultimately led to the first BrightLine bag and now the next generation of FLEX System bags.
I could not created all of these products and all documentation for manufacturing without Shark.
When tough design challenges come our way, we turn to Shark technology. One of our recent custom furniture successes was due in part to Shark’s precision and planning features. Aira is not your typical chest of drawers. The design reflects the fluidity of Aira Force and other scenic waterfalls in the Lake District. The form has a multi-faceted 3-dimensional quality that makes Aira both functional and sculptural. We went from a basic hand sketch to CAD for a 3D model of the design. Shark FX enabled us to get the proportions correct and see a full form design.
Shark’s ability to create and annotate a 2D sheet view is invaluable. Our craftsmen work from these blueprints. We print out full-size templates to make every detail clear. This ensures more accurate production and faster turn-around time. Shark has the intuitive response we need to create the precise specifications required for our fine furniture. From start to finish Shark FX is an integral part of the design and production of our bespoke furniture.
Dragomir Ivicevic is the founder of XYZ Marine Products which is known in the marine industry for its highly rated Extreme Boat Anchor. Dragomir is also the inventor and mastermind behind the novel design approach that makes this anchor rated #1 in the industry and a preferred choice by demanding customers such as the US Navy and Oceaneering International. The Extreme Boat Anchor was designed using Shark FX.
The challenge faced by Dragomir was to design a lightweight anchor that could withstand the extreme forces and deformations common in deep sea environments. Key to the design was the choice of materials and the patented cutting edge saw blade enabling the anchor to penetrate a variety of bottoms. With plenty of design decisions on his plate Dragomir needed a CAD tool that would allow him to freely conceptualize his design and yet create a precise, manufactorable part. After comparing usability, features and price of a variety of CAD systems, Dragomir chose Shark FX. Of particular appeal was Sharks ability to create and modify complex shapes in a precise yet intuitive manner.
As an inventor I am working with companies such as Humanscale, Knoll, Westinghouse, Herman Miller, and NASA where precision standards are expected. My personal approach to design is “less is more” where the subject is reduced to its necessary elements. Shark FX belongs to the same philosophy where the work is stripped down to its most fundamental feature, with minimum mouse movement needed to create complex yet precise 3D form. It just works flawlessly. What I can imagine I can draw using the Shark FX.
